Staten Island's own Budos Band comes out strong with this monstrous slab of afro-tinted, psychedelic funk from their debut album. The rhythm section is lean and malicious: drums, bass, congas, guitar, and organ grinding together into bloodthirsty syncopations. The horns are as rude as they are eerie, spinning and diving deeper and deeper into the spring tank where their screams and howls echo out over the blackness that stretches beneath them. The B-side is ill with the plague! Perfect accompaniment for sweaty dance gatherings, late night rituals involving animal sacrifice, and that good-old fashioned summer afternoon coitus session!
