The Sugarman 3 - "Funky So-And-So Pt. 1 & 2"
Do you know somebody that's really, really funky and they ain't afraid who knows 'bout it? You know, that brother that always struts down the avenue with a dip in his hip, and a glide in his stride, talkin' out the side his mouth. I mean FUNKY! Well chances are you do because their seems to be a cat like that in every town. The Sugarman Three call him the "Funky So-And-So" and they cut a brand new record to hip you to it. Though The Sugarman Three are best known for the organ-driven Boogaloo Soul of their earlier recordings, this record, their debut on Daptone Records, is a sharp departture into what proves to be a Bolder, Fuller, Funkier New Sound. Without a doubt, Sugarman and Co. have taken a leap into the funkier side of things with this mid-tempo New Orleans style instrumental. Part II is a burning organ solo by young Hammond genius Adam Scone. From the second you drop the needle into "Funky So-And-So" you and your friends will be Groovin' On High!
